Acute Aortic Dissection: Update on Diagnosis and Application of Endovascular Therapy of Emergency-Juniper Publishers

Image
JUNIPER PUBLISHERS-OPEN ACCESS JOURNAL OF CARDIOLOGY & CARDIOVASCULAR THERAPY Abstract Acute aortic syndrome (AAS) describes emergency aortic diseases. In 80% of patients, the AAS presents itself as an Acute Dissection of Aorta (ADA). It’s worth pointing out that the traumatic etiology of this condition has great relevance regarding morbidity and mortality. This is fact that the Traumatic Thoracic Aortic Dissection (TTAD), usually occurs from a contuse injury, product of an abrupt deceleration, especially in men and individuals with overweight or obesity, which have a history of smoking and heart surgeries. Early diagnosis of ADA is indispensable, since patients who arrive alive at the hospital, have high probability of death in a short period of time if not treated properly, especially those who have been victims of some traumatic event earlier. In this context, the endovascular approach has become the treatment of choice for acute surgical emergencies involvin

Systolic and Diastolic BP Control in Metabolic Syndrome Patients with Metadichol® a Novel Nano Emulsion Lipid-Juniper Publishers

Image
JUNIPER PUBLISHERS-OPEN ACCESS JOURNAL OF CARDIOLOGY & CARDIOVASCULAR THERAPY Abstract Metadichol®, [1] a nano formulation a mixture of long chain alcohols that is present in many foods like rice and sugar cane and is derived from the waste of the sugar cane industry. It is a renewable resource. Most of the clinical data in literature is a: non-nano formulation either a tablet or capsule which have not shown any efficacy. Given its safety profile, we carried out a small open-label pilot study on diabetic patients with hypertension who had in additional co-morbidities such as dyslipidemia, obesity, and hypertension. None of them were on any hypertensive medication. Our studies on patients for 60 weeks in an open-label study @20mg per day showed that it is possible to bring about improvements in Systolic and diastolic pressure in addition to CRP, VLDL, HDL, Triglycerides and waist circumference reduction and reduction in insulin resistance. Interestingly Vitam

Clinical Profile and Outcome of Infective Endocarditis in a Tertiary Care Centre: Retrospective Study-Juniper Publishers

Image
JUNIPER PUBLISHERS-OPEN ACCESS JOURNAL OF CARDIOLOGY & CARDIOVASCULAR THERAPY Abstract Objective: This study was conducted to outline the clinical profile and outcomes of infective endocarditic (IE). It provides a contemporary picture of the presentation, etiology and outcomes of IE. Methods: A total of 97 consecutive cases of definitive IE who met the modified Duke’s definitive criteria were included in the study. We analysed their clinic-epidemiologic features and outcomes. Results: The mean age was 34.8±14.6 years with male preponderance (57.7%). Rheumatic heart disease (RHD) (29.8%) was the commonest underlying cause followed by congenital heart disease (CHD) (20.6%). Fever as the main clinical feature was seen in 95.8%. About 61.8% of patients were in New York Heart Association (NYHA) class II. Blood culture was positive in 44.3% with commonest organisms being Staphylococcus aureus (10.3%) and Streptococci viridians (9.3%). Most common valve involvem

A Review: Garlic Effects on the Cardiovascular System-Juniper Publishers

Image
JUNIPER PUBLISHERS-OPEN ACCESS JOURNAL OF CARDIOLOGY & CARDIOVASCULAR THERAPY Abstract Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in the world. Detection as well as modification of risk factors for cardiovascular disease (CVD) has been the topics research over several decades. Multiple drugs have been studied and used in clinical practice with people seeking “natural” alternatives. When evaluating for optimal treatment options and the multiple risk factors associated CAD (e.g. diabetes, hypertension, etc.), garlic can play a prominent role. Studies have shown promising results in treating hypertension, altering the lipid profile, prevention and even treatment of coronary atherosclerosis and its systemic anti-oxidant properties. Garlic also has positive effects outside the cardiovascular system (e.g. immune system). It can be used stand-alone or as an adjunct to current medical therapy. No clinically significant side

Hybrid Peripheral Revascularizations-Juniper Publishers

Image
JUNIPER PUBLISHERS-OPEN ACCESS JOURNAL OF CARDIOLOGY & CARDIOVASCULAR THERAPY Introduction In the continuously evolving efforts to provide optimum revascularization for high risk Critical Limb Ischemia patients, vascular surgeons around the world have widely adopted hybrid approach. This combination of the advantages of open and endovascular techniques allows the implementation of tailored complex multi-level reconstruction plans usually within a single setting [1-3]. What started over 40 years ago, with the combination of simple iliac angioplasty and femoro-femoral bypass [4] is gradually increasing in complexity & becoming a widely accepted therapeutic option. Furthermore, the increasing sophistication of minimally invasive endovascular techniques with successful treatment of multi-segmental lesions has contributed to a reduced morbidity & duration of hospital stay when Hybrid revascularizations are performed [5]. The final benefit thus is full reva

New Strategy to Prevent Acute MI in Japan-Juniper Publishers

Image
JUNIPER PUBLISHERS-OPEN ACCESS JOURNAL OF CARDIOLOGY & CARDIOVASCULAR THERAPY Present Status of Acute MI Patients in Japan Approximately 40,000 patients die from acute myocardial infarction (MI) in Japan every year according to the data from Vital Statistics 2014 reported by the Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare. However, the number of patients hospitalized due to acute MI is about 69,000/year, and the in-hospital mortality of those patients is below 10% according to the data from The Japanese Registry of all cardiac and vascular Disease (JROAD) reported by the Japanese Circulation Society. Therefore, approximately 34,000 patients with acute MI die before hospitalization every year and approximately 40% of acute MI patients die after onset mainly before hospitalization. Judging from these data, we should pay more attention to how to prevent acute MI rather than to how to treat acute MI patients in hospital to save their lives. Process of Acute MI Onset
